Tanglewood Creek Family Farm, owned and operated by the McNeill family, was born out of a desire to find a way back from the harried pace of our time, to the ancient paths of simplicity, integrity and quality - in all areas of life. A lot has been changing around the farm since the beginning of 2015! The heavy spring rains of 2015 took a major toll on the farm. It significantly decreased our harvest and the size of our bulbs. We were unable to save any seed garlic for 2016 due to the small bulb size. This meant we'd have to start completely over, buying ALL new seed garlic. After the rains dried up, we lost almost every single herb on our farm. Going from super to super hot killed virtually everything overnight. It was definitely a sad time on the farm!
Around the farm... in it's glory days
As all of this was going on, a new direction for our farm and our lives was headed our way. Caylie, our oldest daughter, had a dream... a dream for us to start a family singing group. We thought she was crazy. LOL! The dream continued to grow and catch fire throughout the whole family. As the farm business was dying, our music business began to grow. It truly surprised us all! We had no idea where we were headed, but we walked through each open door that was presented to us. Now, we are a farm family turn gospel singers! What a crazy journey.
We recently took the children to Michelle's family's farm in Indiana to teach them about their heritage. This is where it "all began". When touring the grain bins, a place Michelle often played as a child, we couldn't resist breaking into song. What better song to sing in the heart of American farm country than the National Anthem! We sing this in honor of our grandfathers and ALL those who have given their time, their heart, their soul and their lives to protect our freedom! We thank you and celebrate you!
Although we no longer grow nine varieties of garlic for sale to the public, we still have our large family garden, goats, and chickens! We will continue to sell our organic skincare products. Be watching for our new book on Natural Beauty! It will contain recipes for making your own healthy skincare products. We are also working on a daily devotional that will contain recipes from the farm! So, keep in touch with us here, on our music website: www.McNeillMusic.com, and on Facebook. We'd love to stay in touch!!
We have left the rest of our farm site intact. Enjoy the walk down memory and then head on over to The McNeills website to see where we are headed
We recently had the opportunity to show the children what a silo was like and how it works, and... well... a song broke out! This was completely unplanned, but so special! We arranged this song for Chris' grandfather's going home celebration (it was his favorite) and sang in it Michelle's grandfather's silo. Both passed away at the age of 90 in 2014. Feel free to share it with your friends! (to share, click on the arrow in the upper right hand corner of the video)
Thank you for taking the time to visit our little family farm. Take your time looking around and enjoy your visit!
